Empowering Futures Through Digital Learning

Project: Computer Lab for the KJ Kapeua Combined School in Ovitoto

Windhoek – 15 October 2022

As its inception project within the education space, the Foundation made the following donation to the KJ Kapeua Combined School:

The Niara Foundation, as a friend of education, is happy to announce that it has successfully donated a computer lab to the KJ Kapeua Combined School in Ovitoto. The handover event took place on Thursday, 13th October 2022 at the School.

The Niara Foundation is non-profit organization founded in 2021 by Ms. Ashley N. Tjipitua. The primary purpose of the foundation is to raise funds with the objective of sponsoring at least one annual charity project within the education sector, amongst destitute and less privileged communities.

The computer lab is known as the Else U. Tjipitua Computer Lab.  Like the founder, the late Else Tjipitua is a descendant of Ovitoto and this donation was commissioned in her name to honour her legacy and commemorate her 25th death anniversary. As a Foundation, we hope that this donation will go a long way in creating a digital learning platform for the learners of Ovitoto, who we hope to one day grow into productive citizens within the communities around them and the country at large.

The importance of digital education and access to information cannot be underplayed and we see no reason why students in rural areas must be left behind, we therefore hope that this small donation can be a stepping stone for many more similar donations in rural schools across the country and serve as pathway for enhanced and substantiable learning outcomes for these students.

The donation was received by the Deputy Minister of Education Arts and Culture, Hon Faustina N. Caley on behalf of the Ministry and the Government of Namibia.

Join us in our mission to create a more inclusive and equitable education system in Namibia. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of students in rural communities and empower them to reach their full potential.

Project: Light House Community Hope Center

2021

At the Niara Foundation, we are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those affected by the challenges brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. In partnership with the Lighthouse Community Hope Center, we initiated a special program to provide gift packages containing shoes and other school amenities to alleviate the burden placed on parents during these difficult times.

As families continued to navigate the economic hardships and uncertainties caused by the pandemic, we recognized the importance of supporting children in their education and well-being. Through our donation of gift packages, we aimed to ensure that students at the Lighthouse Community Hope Center have the necessary resources to thrive in their learning environment.

By providing shoes and school amenities, we were happy to ease the financial strain on parents and empower students to focus on their education without worrying about basic necessities. Our partnership with the Lighthouse Community Hope Center reflects our commitment to fostering a supportive and caring community that uplifts those in need.

Together, we can make a difference in the lives of families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and create a brighter future for children in our community. Join us in spreading hope and kindness by making a small donation that can transform the lives of many destitute children across Namibia.

The Niara Foundation is a charity organization founded in 2021 for the purpose of funding community projects within the education sector. The name “Niara” is modelled off the Swahili name meaning “one with a higher purpose”. Our purpose as a foundation is therefore to bring about meaningful and sustainable change in less privileged communities, specifically for early childhood development.

As our inception project last year, the foundation donated a computer lab to the Ovitoto based KJ Kapeua Combined School, the event was officiated by the Hon. Faustina Caley, Deputy Minister of Education, Arts and Culture. It was at this event that Niara was invited and accepted the Ministry’s invitation to join their “Friends of Education” initiative.

This year, we are delighted to announced the JP Brandt Primary School as the recipient of our annual donation comprising of four (4) desktop computers to aid with digital learning at the school, and herewith invite your good office to be present at the event as both our honorable guest and to receive the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Education within the region.

The event would serve as a great platform for the Regional Director to reinforce and share her priorities on the development of school infrastructure and digital learning in primary schools and to see firsthand how the Niara Foundation operates to promote high-quality early learning for children in less privileged communities.

We would therefore be honored to have Mrs. Stephanus part-take in this event and perform the ribbon cutting as well as officially open the library and accept the computer donation for the JP Brand Primary School. We have for convenience attached hereto a draft programme as shared by the school principal Ms. Josti Maldrid. For any further amendments to the programme or details on the event, please feel at ease to liaise with Ms. Josti directly, she has been instrumental in facilitating this donation for the school, and we laude her incredible efforts in seeing positive change for her school and learners alike.

We look forward to your attendance at our sponsorship ceremony and to your engagement in our exciting contribution to the children, families, and educators within the JP Brand Community.
